In the middle of our three-week term break, our Christmas in July luncheon was held on Tuesday the 4th at the spacious Mulgrave Country Club. It was an afternoon filled with mirth, laughter, and festive cheer which warmed-up the wintery, drizzly day!
The Power of Africa Class decided to celebrate the music and rhythms of Africa in the last two weeks of term.
I arranged for two professional and highly regarded African instrumentalists from Super Mande Percussion to come to the Hub and deliver a workshop as well as give a performance of traditional music on the Djembe drum and Kora.

U3A are now able to use the large TV screens throughout the building to advertise upcoming functions or communicate important information to our ever-increasing membership.
Currently the screens are advertising our “Christmas in July” function on 4 July at the Mulgrave Country Club which the Social Committee is busy organising. As it is in term break I look forward to catching up with as many members as possible at this social function.

There’s something for just about everyone in our Term 3 and 4 Computer and Digital Technology courses. Many of these courses run for only a few weeks, so they are not a big commitment. But do remember to mark the courses you have enrolled in on your calendar so you remember to turn up!

Staying strong and keeping technically safe are two of the topics coming up in our popular Four o’clock Forums. There is no forum in June, and get in quick to book for July and August.

On 4 May, more than 20 members of the Military History Group visited the National Vietnam Veterans Museum at Newhaven near Phillip Island. The museum has a very well curated exhibit (see photo gallery) covering the entire period of Australia’s participation in the Vietnam conflict.
