U3A Nunawading is a friendly place, but with so many members it can be hard to keep up with what’s happening. Key sources of information are emails, this email newsletter, our website and the ‘big screens’ at the Hub. We also have a notice board outside Studio 5. Follow these hints to keep in touch and avoid missing out.
The Volunteers are the first welcoming voice to U3A and support members in many ways including taking membership payments, and providing information to members and prospective members as well as having a friendly chat as members pass by on their way to classes.
On Thursday 30 January, 55 Reception Desk Volunteers gathered for an information session and morning tea in preparation for the year ahead on the Reception Desk at our U3A. See the photo gallery here.
The U3A Borrowing Library can be found near the Course Administration Office. Most of the books are fiction, but we have a small biography collection at the end of the fiction section. These books are marked with a ‘B’. If you find a book you wish to read then take it. You can return it when you finish or donate a suitable book in its place.
In 2024, three of our members took part in a project with the City of Whitehorse partnered with Celebrate Ageing Ltd, The Older Women’s Network NSW and Elder Rights Advocacy Victoria to raise awareness of the contributions and achievements of older women.
The aim of the project was to build respect and combat the inequalities older women experience and is part of the annual Older Women Count program launched for International Women’s Day each year.
As another exciting year begins at U3A, interesting topics in Snippets’ February edition include great savings for Aqualink membership and car hire; a callout for volunteers for medical research; and an offer to attend an informative dementia session.
Summer School 2025 was a week of informative talks, workshops, cooking demonstrations, movies, a quiz, a sing-a-long, and a partner yoga session enjoyed by many of our members.
Each day commenced with a Taiji class on the lawn and the second week of Summer School concluded with six excursions.
