Military History group – visit to Shrine of Remembrance

Over a dozen members of the Military History class took part in a rather unusual visit to the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance this term.
Class member Bill Cherry had suggested a walk to the Shrine to view the memorials along the parklands bordering St Kilda Rd. To make the experience more memorable he requested Class Coordinator Gilbert Foster to ask some of the class members to give a brief talk at each location describing the memorial and a short potted history of the individual depicted.

President’s Report

May has been a buzz of activity at the Hub with our members enjoying their classes and social activities. Tickets for our Christmas in July celebration are now available at Reception, details are available in this newsletter. Also in this edition are reports on the get-togethers we’ve had, plus reminders of our upcoming three-week term break and the AGM. Have you considered volunteering for the Committee of Management?

Watch where you park!

Both carparks at the Hub are being patrolled by the Council Parking Officers. If you receive a parking ticket, we can’t do anything to help you.

Please read the signs carefully and make sure you do not park in restricted areas unless you have the appropriate permit. Also note the time limit is four hours, so don’t stay longer.

Biggest Morning Tea

You’re invited to the Biggest Morning Tea for a big cause – the fight against cancer – and you can also buy raffle tickets or take a lucky guess to help raise funds.

The date for the Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday 23 May, time 10.30 am to 12.30 pm in the lunch area at the Hub. A plate of food will be available at a cost of $5.00 per plate.
