It’s time to blossom. Let’s shake off the winter blues and welcome Spring by celebrating with food, drinks and the good company of friends and colleagues at the Mulgrave Country Club.
Our final welcome event for new members this year was held on Wednesday 13 August. This was the third event in 2025, designed to extend a warm and friendly introduction to those who have recently joined U3A.
The pizza lunch held on Wednesday 30 July saw an enthusiastic attendance from U3A members. The Social Committee catered to around 60 eager participants.
This month’s Snippets includes some great entertainment and special events, including U3A Nunawading’s 35th anniversary celebrations on the horizon; plus, by popular demand, an extension of Appy Hour; opportunities to meet a local council contact and volunteer to teach English; and an update on bin changes in the City of Whitehorse.
Welcome back to all members after our term break. I hope you had the opportunity to catch up with family and friends and maybe get away from the Melbourne cold weather.
Our AGM is coming up as you can see from the official notice at the beginning of this newsletter. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about how our great organisation works and to support the volunteers who put in the time as Committee Members to make things run smoothly.
Welcome to Term 3! Hopefully all the nasty bugs we were experiencing in Term 2 disappeared during the three-week break. In this article we give advance notice on enrolment dates for 2026, some reminders on how to be a good U3A citizen, some free German resources and a new class for Term 4.

There have been a couple of big security issues in the news recently, either of which may have affected you.
While Qantas has informed affected customers, you may also be affected by other data breaches you don’t hear about. The Australian website Have I Been Pwned is a useful source of information about data breaches. You can register to be notified when your email address appears in a data breach that the website owner, Troy Hunt, finds out about.
It might be cold now, but spring is just around the corner and July Snippets is coming into bud with spring activities. Keep your diary free for our Spring Celebration, enjoy our garden’s blooms and get ideas for your garden at a camelia show. In line with the season of growth, our “Appy” Hour team is growing so watch out for changed times.
With winter well and truly here, those coffee vouchers are a great way to enjoy a comforting hot drink. But hurry—they’ll expire soon!
