President’s Report

Welcome back to all members after our term break. I do hope that you had the opportunity to catch up with family and friends or better still get away from the Melbourne cold weather. I had a week’s break on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland where it proceeded to rain every day.

The City of Whitehorse, in partnership with Villa Maria Catholic Homes, are installing a Social Enterprise Café in the area nearest to the upstairs corridor, and on completion the Café will be serving coffee, snacks, and cake. Read on for more about what this means for you.

May has been a buzz of activity at the Hub with our members enjoying their classes and social activities. Tickets for our Christmas in July celebration are now available at Reception, details are available in this newsletter. Also in this edition are reports on the get-togethers we’ve had, plus reminders of our upcoming three-week term break and the AGM. Have you considered volunteering for the Committee of Management?

President’s Report

The first two weeks of classes have shown that members were keen to get back into the swing of things and once again enjoy their classes and the facilities of the Hub. With several new class leaders and many new members joining U3A Nunawading, it looks like we are in for a very successful 2024.

The Reception Desk Volunteers and Committee Duty members have been extremely busy so I ask all members to be patient and respect the fact that everyone you deal with is a volunteer.

Whitehorse Spring Festival is a major event on our calendar. Thanks to all the performers and their leaders. The fun continued with the Melbourne Cup Eve social function. Thanks to Paulina Chong for organising both. See the photos and reports on these events in this newsletter.

Spring is here and it’s a busy time for us all. The Positive Ageing Festival runs through October and U3A members were active at the opening and the Spring Festival.
